The Grand Valley is still in a Stage 1 drought, with voluntary restrictions on water use. Monitor your use of water, and be especially careful with outdoor watering. Fix all water leaks, consider switching out old five gallon flush toilets with the newer 1.8 gallon toilets, and conserve where you can. Do not overwater your lawn. Less frequent deep watering will allow the roots to go deeper into the soil. Let the grass grow a little bit higher between mowings, which saves water. Cut back your watering schedule to two days per week, and make sure to adjust your sprinkler system so you’re not watering in the rain or watering sidewalks and the street. We all need to do our part to conserve water.
